The Settings Lock feature is designed to strengthen your focus sessions by preventing access to iPhone's Settings app while Monk Mode is active. This ensures you can't change Screen Time permissions or disable Monk's protection during a session.
How Settings Lock works
When your Monk Mode is activated, the Settings Lock feature uses iOS Screen Time restrictions to completely block access to the Settings app. This creates an additional layer of protection against distraction by preventing you from changing any settings that might weaken your focus session.
When Settings Lock is activated
The Settings Lock is automatically enabled when you start a Monk Mode session and disabled when your session ends. This automation ensures you're protected during focus time but can still access your device settings normally when you're not in a session.
Emergency access options
If you absolutely need to access Settings during a Monk Mode session, you have two options: end your current session by tapping your Monk tag again, or use an emergency unblock token. These options ensure you're never completely locked out, but the small barrier helps you make more intentional choices about breaking your focus.
Important Note
If you have a Screen Time passcode set up on your device, you may still be able to bypass the Settings Lock by entering your passcode. For the strongest protection, consider using Monk's Strict Mode along with Settings Lock.
